Our founder, Enrile M. Asuncion

About Us

Silca Coffee is a family tradition. We source coffee from our own farms and directly from farmers and traders with whom we’ve cultivated relationships since 1977. Our beans are expertly roasted in small batches and blended to create a coffee that you can depend on day after day, year after year.

Silca Coffee Roasting Company, Inc. was founded by Enrile M. Asuncion in 1996, under the name “Jamica” – short for “Jackie, Michael, and Carolyn,” his three children. Enrile’s background in coffee dates back to the 1970’s, when he and wife, Evelyn, began exporting Philippine coffee worldwide, under the name Evrile Enterprises, which grew to be one of the largest coffee exporters in the Philippines. In 1983 the couple founded Silca Trading in Bellevue, Washington, just outside of Seattle, importing the finest coffees from all over the world.

Homesick, the couple decided to come back to the Philippines in the 1990’s where Enrile began roasting. After extensive practice and travel to seek out mentors in roasting, Enrile imported a state of the art roaster from France and began sharing his craft, to supply businesses freshly roasted coffee. His son Michael took over the family business in 2010, and has since launched brewed coffee brands Kick-Start and Silcafe in leading supermarkets, with the goal of making freshly roasted coffee accessible to all Filipinos.

Silang, Cavite

Silca stands for Silang, Cavite.

Silang is our home. It is where both sides of Enrile and Evelyn’s respective families are from, with both sides playing critical roles in the development and progression of the town.

Enrile’s father was Mayor of Silang for 16 years, starting in 1956, and Evelyn’s father was the Owner & Manager of the town’s only rural banks. Evelyn’s father not only planted coffee himself for his own leisure, but was also the financier behind many coffee farms, by issuing farmers agricultural loans to plant coffee, as the owner of the Rural Bank of Silang, Silangan Savings and Loan Bank and Silangan Finance.

Silang is about 40 kilometers outside Metro Manila, and a little over a one hour drive.
